E311 Overhead Linesman

Purpose of the role:

Hargreaves Power Services are looking to recruit distribution linesmen to work in Kowloon and New Territories of Hong Kong. Linesman are required to operate, maintain and repair overhead electrical distribution systems up to 11kV for CLP in Hong Kong. Work includes wood pole replacement, dismantling and installation of ancillary hardware as well as reconnecting customers.

Linesmen with E311 cards and any current CLP authorisations will be at an advantage however training will be given to develop future lineman. Salary will depend on experience and authorizations held. Those with significant experience may be considered for a Foreman role.

Responsibilities:

• New build and refurbishment of distribution overhead lines
• Work on outages both LV and HV
• Renew services into customers properties
• Be part of the working party and receive safety documents
• Work to high safety standards
• Help to develop trainees
• Execute the task assigned to you
• Help fill out the appropriate paperwork
• Drive the company vehicle if required
• Emergency call and shift duty may be need
• Work in adverse weather condition.

Requirements:

• Holder of Valid green card and Construction Workers Registration Card
• Must have E311 Overhead Linesman qualification
• Current CLP authorizations (CP OR AP) will be an advantage
• Experience of working on Distribution network is desirable
• A valid Hong Kong driving licence. Class 1 and 2 are preferable
• Relevant qualifications and experience in operating a mobile elevation working platform (MEWP) is desirable
• Relevant qualification and experience in operating an excavator is desirable
• A12 construction materials rigger qualification is desirable
• A12s Rigger & Signaller qualification is desirable
• Completion of junior secondary school (i.e. Form 3)
• Good command of both written and spoken English is desirable

Key competencies:

• A working knowledge of electrical theory as well as the methods, materials, and equipment used in Distribution overhead line construction and maintenance work
• Knowledge and experience of the occupational hazards and safety precautions and procedures related to working around high voltages
• Extensive experience in the use of electrical test equipment and instruments such as grounds and hot sticks
• Work involves physical exertion, heavy lifting, and exposure to inclement weather, as well as the hazardous conditions of working with high-voltage energized lines and equipment
• Comfortable with climbing wood poles and working at height
• Willingness to carry out emergency work at short notice
• Shall be capable of working under pressure whilst maintaining safety awareness
• Hard working, highly motivated; eager to contribute to an effective team operation
• Reliable and responsible, shows attention to detail
• Must work at all times in the best interest of the COMPANY and CLIENT
• Keep the work site clean and tidy
• Must possess sound reasoning skills and have the ability to follow directions
