Driver training keeps Hargreaves on the road to great safety performance

As part of our road risk management initiatives we recently provided all of our company drivers with Defensive Driving training. Key topics included:

Observation
The “fatal five”
Tyre Management
Speed Management
Crash avoidance space

All drivers undertook a full day of training comprised of classroom theory around defensive driving as well as an on-road assessment for each driver using the actual roads / routes that we generally use during our operational activities. This enabled the trainer to assess driving habits and provide feedback on ways to improve either the safety or the economy of the drive.
