Hargreaves has joined its sister company Access Services in becoming certified under the new Health and Safety standard ISO45001. The new standard replaces OHSAS 18001 and places much greater emphasis on the participation of frontline staff within the safety management system, mirroring the fundamental principle that safety is everyone’s responsibility.
HIS has signed up to this principle for many years and is best manifested in its Step Back Speak Up system, where every member of staff is empowered to stop work they believe to be unsafe and intervene if they’re able or if not report the issue to their supervisor. This is complimented by a range of safety training and incentives to help promote safe working practices across our sites.
Neil our HIS head of safety was keen to promote the new standard and its positive impact on the business:
“We are proud to have become accredited to this new standard. It puts leadership and risk management at its core and has allowed better integrate safety thinking across the core areas of our business”
Hargreaves are amongst the first engineering companies in Hong Kong to be accredited with the new standard and represents their continuing commitment to Health and Safety.
